Umhlabuyalingana | Flood Response Update

Today, the South African Red Cross Society is on the ground in Umhlabuyalingana, where families whose homes were completely destroyed by the recent floods have been relocated to a local school for temporary accommodation.

A total of 179 families are currently being sheltered. To support them, we have deployed our mobile kitchen and delivered food groceries for meal preparation, along with blankets and hygiene kits to help restore dignity and comfort during this difficult time.

We will be here for at least five days, providing three meals a day to the affected families.

We were warmly received by the Mayor of the municipality, reflecting strong collaboration as we work together to support affected communities.

The South African Red Cross remains committed to standing with communities in times of crisis.
