The South African Red Cross Society (Uitenhage Branch) was honoured to participate in the East Cape Midlands TVET College student induction.

During the session, we introduced the South African Red Cross Society and shared information about our community and youth development programmes. We also highlighted a growing concern where many students complete classes early and are required to wait for transport for several hours, often exposing them—especially young women—to safety and social risks.
Students were informed that the Red Cross Centre provides a safe, structured, and supportive environment where they are welcome to wait for transport and actively participate in after-school programmes that promote safety, skills development, and positive decision-making.
Special thanks to our Provincial Manager, Ms Caroline Gallant, for releasing the Provincial Programmes Manager, Mr Simphiwe Veto, who presented an overview of the South African Red Cross Society before handing over to our Youth Chairperson and Uitenhage Branch Communications Officer, Ms Siyahluma Febana, who spoke about the branch programmes and opportunities available to students.
We look forward to strengthening collaboration with East Cape Midlands College – Thanduxolo Campus to support and empower students.
