Building safer communities — one trained youth at a time- Clau-Clau, Mpumalanga
The South African Red Cross Society (SARCS) successfully trained 50 youth members in Disaster Risk Reduction and First Aid in Clau Clau, Ehlanzeni. The training, funded by Santam, focused on equipping young people with essential skills to assess emergencies, manage injuries, and respond confidently during crises.
Participants were introduced to practical first aid techniques and gained a deeper understanding of common disaster risks affecting their communities.
This initiative forms part of SARCS and Santam’s continued commitment to strengthening community resilience by empowering youth with life-saving knowledge, the programme not only enhances emergency response capacity but also inspires leadership and responsibility among young people.
These newly trained youth are now better prepared to safeguard themselves, their families, and the wider community.
