100 Years of Quiet Heroism

If you walk into the Red Cross Society’s Wynberg branch, you’ll see them — khaki jackets, hanging quietly in the boardroom. No rank. No fame. Just a hand-stitched red cross on the shoulder. Those jackets tell our story: ordinary South Africans doing unbelievably extraordinary things. From the hunger lines of the Cape Flats to the floods of KwaZulu-Natal, we’ve been there, first to arrive, last to leave, for over a century. But now, the story’s on pause, and we need your R20 to press play.

If 10,000 of us gave R20, that’s R200,000, enough to deliver these vital social services: Keep two food relief centres open for a month. Train 200 new youth volunteers. Deliver first aid to 500 people.
