The SA Red Cross Society engages in advocacy, lobbying, and activism to promote its mission of alleviating human suffering and fostering human dignity. They work to ensure the needs of communities are addressed, particularly those of the vulnerable.

Advocacy and Lobbying:

The SA Red Cross Society actively engages with government, international organizations, and other stakeholders.
They advocate for changes to legislation and policies that impact the rights of vulnerable populations. ·
This includes Parliamentary engagement where they make submissions and presentations on issues affecting human rights, particularly for refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants.

Community Engagement:

The SA Red Cross Society is community-based and serves as a link between the community and the government, ensuring community needs are articulated and addressed. They support government efforts in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, from health and care programs to disaster management and relief.

Mission and Principles:

The SA Red Cross Society’s mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering and foster human dignity, addressing basic needs in accordance with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. These principles include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
