Charity is a powerful means to help alleviate the effects of humanitarian crises and to supplement public services in health care, education, housing and child protection.nn The South African Red Cross Society (SARCS) needs your help to continue serving the most vulnerable communities during the upcoming Holiday season.nnOur #NikelaNgothando Campaign is appealing for public donations of Clothing, Shoes and non-perishable Food items. The items will be distributed to groups worst affected by poverty including‚ the unemployed‚ the less educated‚ female-headed households‚ large families and children.nnDrop off points include Red Cross offices and local partners in the following areas:nnJohannesburg (Sandton, Florida, Soweto, Vaal); Pretoria (Arcadia); Benoni (Brakpan, Rynfield, Daveyton, Germiston); Bloemfontein; Mahikeng; Limpopo (Mokopane, Musina); Western Cape (Cape Town, Greyton, Helderburg, Hermanus, Knysna, Stellenbosch); Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth, East London, Grahamstown, Uitenhage); KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, PMB, Howick, Zululand, Umzimkulu, Newcastle, Port Shepstone).nnSouth Africa is the most unequal country in the world, according to a 2018 report by the World Bank. More than half of South Africans (55.5%) or 30-million people live below the national poverty line of R992 per month.nnDuring 2016 to 2018 the SA Red Cross implemented a successful partnership with Land Rover SA titled “Hope Boxes”, which assistedthousands of less-fortunate South Africans: https://www.landrover.co.za/experience/news/hope-gardens-initiative.htmlnnThis December, Give Love to Someone Needy!
