More aid needed for cyclone-hit communities

The South African Red Cross Society is appealing for urgent aid for communities struck by Cyclone Idai. Idai battered Mozambique and parts of Zimbabwe and Malawi – leaving hundreds dead and thousands homeless. Many people are still without food, clothing and shelter. The Red Cross says non-perishable foods, water, blankets, tents, clothing, and cash donations can be sent through to their offices.nnChairperson, Mothibedi Panyane says communities in the neighbouring countries will need assistance for many months to come. “In the spirit of Ubuntu, assist one another because this devastation is affecting our fellow African brothers and sisters. According to reports, it will greatly affect many families. If we have lost parents, children are going to be orphaned.
