The SA Red Cross Pretoria branch is based in 437 Edmond Street, Arcadia, Pretoria and is led by Mr Johannes Sibiya.

We are aware of natural disasters that usually occurs around the South Africa Due to the extreme weather conditions in the country, Tornados, Flash Floods, Droughts, Strong Winds, Severe Thunderstorms, Sudden Cold Spells and Infected Water Supplies are major causes of disasters. Due to rapid urbanization, the fringes of the cities have high population density where Veld Fires, Shack Fires and Floods are major hazards. The nature and positioning of informal settlements could be a health hazard if Communicable Diseases were to break out, as these areas have no health facilities, they have poor roads, poor drainage systems and tend to have communal sanitary facilities therefore our Pretoria branch prepared to respond to disasters around Pretoria.

The branch is also responsible for restoring family links (RFL) this is a core programme of the South African Red Cross Society. The programme helps people to re-establish contact with immediate family members after separation due to armed conflict, natural disasters, migration and other humanitarian crisis.

Tuberculosis (TB) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be considered a deadly human syndemic diseases. To eliminate this South African Red Cross Society implemented its Integrated HIV and Tuberculosis Program, reaching out to clients infected and affected by HIV and Tuberculosis. These clients with our support have been given a new lease on life.

The Integrated HIV and Tuberculosis programme addresses:

Prevention, Provision of quality community based care and treatment services, Reduction of stigma and discrimination, Household economic security and livelihoods, and Development of organizational capacity and programme sustainability.

The branch also offers peer education, Our Peer Education and Communication model focuses on Life Skills, Adolescence Development, Sex and Sexuality, Sexual Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS and Gender Based Violence.
