Land Rover’s Hope Boxes return for Red Cross

By May 31, 2017 No Comments

Pretoria, 29 May 2017 – In 2016 Land Rover collected 14 326 essential items in its “Hope Boxes”, with the deliveries going to Red Cross charities around South Africa. This year, as part of its ongoing work for the Hope Crosses Any Terrain programme, Land Rover will again roll out its Land Rover Hope Boxes campaign through its national dealer network – and also enlist the help of staff and Land Rover ambassadors to help change the lives of thousands of less-fortunate South Africans. “This campaign was incredibly successful last year and we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to hand-deliver some of these items to one of the Red Cross homes,” said Lisa Mallett, Marketing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “This year we plan to better last year’s number of items, and encourage the participation from our new dealers as well as Land Rover ambassadors.” From 1 June 2017, 31 participating Jaguar Land Rover dealers will each have a Red Cross-liveried Land Rover Discovery Sport fitted with a Land Rover Hope Box. This bespoke container will be used to collect donations of non-perishable foodstuffs, toiletries, children’s toys, educational items, clothing and blankets. Along with donations from dealer staff and customers, members of the public will also be able to contribute some of these essential items. Western Province Rugby will also proudly support this cause. A Land Rover Hope Boxes collection drive has also been arranged at the Western Province Rugby headquarters, where Land Rover Rugby Ambassadors #MudBrothers will encourage donations from fans and other rugby sponsors. “The Land Rover Hope Boxes campaign is about supporting one another, which is exactly what sponsors and our faithful fans do for us,” said Western Province Rugby Group CEO, Paul Zacks. “We would like to encourage people to support this drive with the same passion they show for our teams at DHL Newlands.” When this year’s Land Rover Hope Boxes campaign wraps up on 31 July, the collected items will be handed over to the South African Red Cross Society for distribution to its key projects.
